Research Interests
-
Impacts of environmental "obesogens" on invertebrate, marine mammal, and human health
Current and planned research projects
- The lasting epigenetic impacts of obesogen chemical exposure during development, particularly the fetal origins of adult metabolic and obesity disorders
- Identifying, validating, and characterizing obesogens that can drive obesity, diabetes and the metabolic syndrome in vertebrates and growth, patterning and reproductive disorders (such as imposex) in invertebrates
- Sentinel animal models to predict health trajectories
- We hope to provide methods to test novel dispersants, food addivtites, etc. to investigate sublethal long-term influences on health trajectories
