Research Interests

  • impacts of coastal development on estuarine systems
  • ecological impacts of beach nourishment
  • modeling
  • restoration science

Current research projects

  • Modeling relationships between land use (and weather patterns) and estuarine habitat quality: water quality, sediment quality, and benthic biological integrity
  • Evaluating the impacts of summer season beach nourishment on benthic-feeding surf-zone fishes and the macrobenthic invertebrate community
  • Evaluating the suitability of living shorelines for erosion control as an alternative to bulkheads
